Flashing the Rolling Stones: Unfiltered Tour 2021
I am chronicling my adventures chasing my favorite rock icons post-Covid. The following was one of the best nights of my life. Probably of anyone’s life.
I landed in Las Vegas in the morning. Jeph, my best friend, and I went out for margaritas and vegan nachos. This was a rookie mistake having been out of the desert for the last few months.
We arrived at the stadium around 10am. While the show wasn’t until 8pm, I wanted to be pressed against the stage. This required a commitment. I coordinated with the Shidoobees, a group of die hard Stones fans, and they advised me on where to camp out in line (Keith’s side or Ronnie’s side) and the basic logistics.
So we sat down on concrete. A number was written on our hands. This was totally useless by the time the gates opened and you could see the fear in security’s eyes:
“Now everyone, calmly walk in when I open these gates. Calmly. Do NOT run.”
